In the final match of their highly-successful tour of Sri Lanka, the Indian women’s cricket team will take on the hosts in the third ODI at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on Thursday (July 7). The Indian team has already sealed the series after winning the first two matches, and they will now be eager to whitewash the islanders.
Playing under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, India won the first two matches by four wickets and 10 wickets, respectively. In the second match, which was played on Monday (July 4), the Indian team produced an all-round show to keep the hosts at bay.
First, it was the bowling attack led by Renuka Singh that restricted the Chamari Athapaththu-led side to 173 runs in 50 overs, and then Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma added 174 runs for the first wicket in 25.4 overs to seal the win for India.
